    Over 33 years' experience in EFL in Indonesia, Middle East, North Africa and Central Asia. Extensive experience in classroom teaching, syllabus design and program administration for language institutions and business, banking and oil, gas and other industrial sectors. Familiar with conducting KET, PET and IELTS (Cambridge Examinations) Preparation programs.  Capable of setting up and running (in a supervisory capacity) a small language training centre or section from scratch. Fluent in Indonesian/Malay language. Well-accustomed to foreign, especially Islamic, cultures, traditions and isolated environments.

    Anglo Petroleum Training for Hydrocarbon Industries (APT), Mellitah,Western Desert Province, Libya

    Currently English Language Section Supervisor for Mellitah Gas and ENI Italy  Corporation in two Libyan desert locations (Mellitah and Wafa Gas fields). Principal  responsibilities include;

    ·         liasing between both contractor (APT) and Clients (Mellitah Gas and ENI Italy BV) on all EL training issues.

    ·         smooth running of day-to-day training.

    ·         planning and scheduling of courses for a team of 5 instructors.

    ·         conducting level assessments

    ·         maintaining and updating training database using Access.

    ·         instructor assignments and timetabling.

    ·         procurement of all training materials and stationery.

    ·         instructor rotations and smooth changeovers.

    ·         execution of examinations; both internal and external at Elite Institute, Tripoli.

    ·         training quality control.

    ·         writing quarterly reports for contractor and client

Click here) and IELTS Preparation courses for employees of Mellitah Gas Corporation and ENI Gas (Italy) in their Mellitah and Wafa gas fields in Western Libya. Responsible for assessing trainees' suitability for Cambridge exams, liaising with various operational sections of the client (Mellitah Gas) regarding language training and assessments and updating trainee records using Access database. Promoted to act as English Section Supervisor  in January 2009  Pay: Equiv. US$3600 pcm net. Provided:  Accommodation, Meals,  Flights  Rotation: 6 weeks / 3 weeks

    February 2007 - November 2007

    Tristar Petroleum Technical Services (TME), Deir Ezzor/Damascus, Syria

    • Returned to Syria to conduct a further 9-month General and Technical English course to existing employees of Al Furat Petroleum Company at Tristar's training centre in Damascus and in the Eastern Desert oilfields. Responsible for  groups of  trainees ranging from Intermediate up to Upper-Intermediate as well as for ensuring the safety of staff under my supervision. Assumed full responsibility  for running Tristar's Damascus Training Centre. Liased closely with Al Furat's OTF and HSE sections. Pay: US$3800 pcm net. Provided:  Accommodation, Flights  Rotation: 3 months

    June 2006 - January 2007

    ASTAC Air Traffic Controller Institute (ASTAC), Rudloe, Corsham, UK

    • Six-month contract Training Air Traffic Controllers at AeroNavigatsia's training centre in Almaty, Kazakhstan. Responsible for 10 groups of trainees; 120 in total. Levels range from Intermediate through to Upper-Intermediate. Course focus was on ATC Phraseology and word stress patterns as well as General English. Pay: US$3800 (equiv) pcm net  Provided: Accommodation, Flights Rotation: 6 months - 1 month

    June 2006 - January 2007

    InterPress Language Institute International House (IH Almaty), Almaty, Kazakhstan

    • Employed part-time (evenings) to teach public classes in General English and IELTS. Taught a range of levels from Elementary up to Intermediate using English File and Headway publications.     2003 - May 2006

    • Initially re-recruited to conduct a 12-month General and Technical English course to existing employees of Al Furat Petroleum Company at their Omar oil field base camp in Eastern Syria and then at Tristar's training centre in Damascus. Responsible for  groups of  trainees ranging from Foundation up to and including Upper-Intermediate. Responsible for ensuring the safety of staff under my supervision. Fully responsible for establishing and running Tristar's new Damascus Training Centre beginning July 2004.     2004 - May 2006

    AmidEast / American Language Center (ALC), Damascus, Syria

    • The first instructor to be recruited to start up IELTS Preparation Program for local and foreign, mainly mainland Chinese and Korean, students. Duties involved designing and compiling IELTS Preparation material  for classroom instruction. Trained, advised and counseled IELTS trainees as well as new teachers in IELTS study skills, test-taking and time management techniques.

    • Successfully completed a six-month off-shore assignment in Borneo, training employees of PT Badak NGL in EFL oral communication and effective business and Industrial report writing.
